Glasgow’s MEM medium is an improved version of MEM used to support the growth of BHK-21 cells. The original formula is based on BME, with the addition of 10% phosphopancreatic protein (monthly) broth, doubling the concentration of amino acids and vitamins. This formula contains L-glutamine and does not contain sodium bicarbonate or phosphopancreatic protein (as shown in the figure) broth.
